If your disc has copy protection you'll either get scrambled results, encodes that end early, or worst case, crashes. Thank you, I'll try MakeMKV first but as a former device driver coder, I have to say that Quality software fails gracefully, it shouldn't crash no matter what, even if the input is something wildly unexpected, like a spreadsheet. I hope I'm not being rude, I know that everyone working on this is a volunteer and I really am grateful for your efforts!!

Unfortunatly, some of the underlying libraries we use are rather prone to not guardning against errors so if we can, we'll submit pathces upstream. I have been in the position of depending on others code too I'll let you know if that resolves it.
